Full Job Description

Seasonal tax preparers – Public accounting firm is looking to hire a high-caliber experienced seasonal tax preparer and reviewer for  individual and/or business income tax returns. Tax experience is required and experience in a paperless environment is a plus. The successful candidate can be flexible work in the West Haven location or the Mt Green location and at times can work remotely.  Would be able to return during future tax seasons.

Our seasonal positions are for those who wish to primarily work from February to mid-April, although there may be an opportunity for additional hours outside of tax season. Ideally, these will be recurring annual positions for the right person. We can accommodate flexible schedules but request that you be able to commit to at least 25 hours per week during tax season. We offer competitive pay rates, some training, free parking, an excellent office environment and a friendly atmosphere.


What you will do:

As a Tax Preparer you will be an integral member of the firm’s centralized tax processing center providing the following:

  • Enter personal client data and financial information into tax preparation software
  • Prepare and/or review individual, partnership and corporate income tax returns
  • Prepare tax returns in accordance with firm policies, ensure information is accurately represented
  • Ensure client confidentiality by following all company procedures regarding information handling
  • Interact directly with clients


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma required; associate's or bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 2+ years of Individual tax return preparation
  • Knowledge of basic accounting concepts involved in tax return preparation 
  • Demonstrated skills in the areas of time management, communication, interpersonal skills, relationship building, collaboration and problem solving
  • Provides exceptional client service, adapts and takes initiative, strong project management, organizational and analytical skills
  • Experience with QuickBooks, Excel and Adobe Acrobat is preferred, adaptable to new technology and ability to work in a paperless environment
  • Should be able to clean up a set of QuickBooks or enter bank statements into excel spreadsheet
  • Should know what a Balance Sheet is
  • Should know what a Profit & Loss is​
  • Professional image and positive attitude
  • Team player that is receptive to constructive feedback
  • Availability to work late January 2022 through mid-April 2022, part-time opportunities available

Pay: $16 - $18 per hour depending on experience
